A major fire broke out on the sixth and seventh floors of the seven-story Manzur Khan Plaza (also referred to as Mansur Khan Tower) in the Chota Katara area of Chawkbazar, Dhaka, on October 12, 2026. The blaze, suspected to have started in a warehouse, spread to an adjacent building and damaged 7-8 warehouses filled with flammable plastic goods. It took approximately 37 hours to fully extinguish the fire. Operations were hampered by narrow access roads, limited water access, dense smoke, and locked warehouses. Four firefighters were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, heat exhaustion, and burns. The incident caused significant commercial losses and necessitated the closure of surrounding buildings for safety.
