Two farmers died after an 11,000-volt electric wire snapped and fell into a paddy field in Fatikchhari

Two farmers, Md. Abul Hashem and Md. Yunus, died from electrocution on July 19, 2026, after an 11,000-volt power line snapped and fell into a paddy field in Fatikchhari, Chattogram. The incident occurred while they were planting paddy seedlings in areas identified across Fakirachan village (Chowdhurypara, Paindong Union) and the Madarshabari area (Bhujpur Union). Local Rural Electrification Board authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the electrical failure.
