Teesta River levels breach danger mark, triggering flash floods in Lalmonirhat

Driven by upstream rainfall and mountain runoff, the Teesta River exceeded its danger level by 3 cm at Dalia Point on July 9, 2026, forcing the opening of 44 sluice gates at the Teesta Barrage. By July 10, the flash flood had impacted several upazilas in Lalmonirhat, including Hatibandha, Sadar, Aditmari, and Kaliganj, causing damage to croplands and leaving many families in low-lying and char areas stranded.
