Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie inspected severe erosion along the Meghna River in Subarnachar and Hatiya, Noakhali, on May 17, 2026. The erosion has destroyed homes, marketplaces, schools, colleges, and agricultural land. Authorities have implemented emergency measures using geo-bags and pledged permanent protection starting in the next fiscal year.
