Severe Riverbank Erosion in Gaibandha Due to Rising Water Levels

Continuous rainfall and rising water levels in the Teesta, Karatoya, and Brahmaputra rivers have caused severe riverbank erosion across Gaibandha, including Sundarganj, Gaibandha Sadar, Fulchhari, and Saghata upazilas. The erosion has destroyed multiple homesteads and over fifty croplands, while critical infrastructure such as the Balashi ferry terminal and the Munshirhat riverbank protection embankment are facing significant risk. Efforts are ongoing to mitigate the impact of the loss of homesteads and agricultural land.
