Construction of the 90.06-meter Moragangi River girder bridge on the Basail GC-Kauljani road in Tangail (valued at 100.99 million BDT) was found to use bamboo instead of steel reinforcement in sidewalk slabs. Following public outcry, an Anti-Corruption Commission (Dudok) investigation was launched, and departmental actions were taken by LGED, including the stand-release of the Upazila Engineer and the suspension of a sub-assistant engineer. Authorities have arrested a sub-contractor, formed a three-member investigation committee, and issued show-cause notices to the joint-venture contractor (M/S Yunus Al Mamun - M/S Jakir Enterprise). Orders have been issued to demolish and reconstruct the substandard sections.
