Child dies after consuming battery acid in Teknaf

A 4-year-old child named Saiful Alam Sami died on July 6, 2026, at Chittagong Medical College Hospital after consuming battery acid mistakenly provided by a shopkeeper's brother at a tea shop in Hnila, Teknaf, on April 9, 2026. Despite undergoing multiple surgeries on his esophagus and family expenditure of approximately 8 lakh BDT, the child succumbed to the severe chemical burns after nearly three months of treatment.
