Prime Minister issues 48-hour deadline for waste removal and dengue prevention in Dhaka

Following the second day of Eid, Prime Minister Tareq Rahman conducted a surprise inspection of waste management in Dhaka on May 29, 2026. He observed severe mismanagement of waste and drainage blockages, and issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the Dhaka North and South city corporations to clear waste and unblock drainage systems to prevent dengue outbreaks, ordering immediate disciplinary action against negligent officials.
