Severe Flash Flooding, Cemetery Damage, and Health Complex Disruption in Satkania and Lohagara, Chattogram

Beginning July 9, 2026, severe flash floods in Chattogram led to critical infrastructure damage. In Satkania's Bajalia Union, flooding displaced bodies from a cemetery, which were later recovered. By July 11, heavy rains and mountain runoff further intensified the crisis, submerging the Satkania Upazila Health Complex, forcing medical staff to move operations to the second floor. Approximately 4.5 lakh people across Satkania and Lohagara are waterlogged, with the Sangu River flowing 29cm above the danger level, severely disrupting healthcare and emergency access.
