Mob attack on homes and temples in Garkati village following blasphemy allegations

On June 23, 2026, a mob attacked Garkati village and Badaghat Bazar in Tahirpur, Sunamganj, following online blasphemy allegations against a 21-year-old youth. The mob vandalized several homes, shops, and religious sites, including three temples in Garkati village and one in Badaghat Bazar. The accused youth was taken into police custody, and no injuries were reported during the attacks.
