Measles and complications outbreak at Chattogram Medical College Hospital

An outbreak of measles and associated complications, including pneumonia and measles encephalitis, at Chattogram Medical College Hospital has resulted in at least 11 pediatric deaths. As of May 18, 2026, 1,583 children have been hospitalized with suspected measles symptoms, with reports of shortages in functional high-flow nasal cannula equipment in the pediatric ICU.
