Systemic prison health crisis leading to prisoner deaths in Bangladesh

Between 2021 and September 28, 2026, 1,235 prisoners died in Bangladesh due to systemic failures, including extreme overcrowding and lack of medical infrastructure. Of these, at least 300 prisoners died while being transported to hospitals due to a lack of available ambulances and delayed medical access.
