Systemic negligence: Unauthorized drivers operating municipal garbage trucks leading to fatal accidents

An investigation into Dhaka South City Corporation's (DSCC) waste management operations revealed a systemic practice where authorized drivers hand over municipal vehicles to unauthorized assistants or external individuals. This dangerous practice has persisted despite multiple fatal accidents, resulting in at least 18 deaths across 16 separate incidents between 2017 and 2026.
