Fatal clash and arson in Tangail over store credit and Section 144 violation

A violent, recurring clash between residents of Jagatpura village in Bhuyapur upazila and Gulipencha village in Gopalpur upazila, Tangail, escalated into arson and vandalism from June 4 to June 5, 2026. Stemming from a store credit dispute, the conflict resulted in one death and at least 20 injuries. Despite administration efforts to restore order with Section 144, the conflict led to the burning of approximately 20 houses and looting in the Nalin Bazar, Jagatpura, and Gulipencha areas.
