Landslides and flash flooding in Chattogram city resulting in fatalities
Between July 7 and July 8, 2026, record-breaking rainfall in Chattogram city caused severe flash flooding and multiple landslides in areas such as Mayor Goli, Chashma Hill, Muktijoddha Pahar, Bayezid, and Tigerpass. The incidents resulted in the deaths of two children, Sumaiya Akter (12) and Samia Islam (13), and injuries to others. Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain visited the sites, warning of unstable hills and urging residents to relocate.
