Nationwide Power Crisis, Load-Shedding, and Vandalism at Electrical Infrastructure

A severe nationwide power crisis, exacerbated by fuel and gas shortages, has triggered load-shedding frequently exceeding 3,000 MW. This has caused public unrest, industrial production disruption, and acts of vandalism against the substations and offices of 80 Palli Bidyut Samity across Bangladesh. In response to these security threats, electrical distribution offices in areas including Dhaka, Narayanganj, Gazipur, Magura, Gopalganj, Nilphamari, and Kushtia have formally requested police protection to safeguard essential infrastructure.
