Structural Defects Identified in Metro Rail Infrastructure: 27 Critical Bearing Pads and 46 Cracked Pillars

Transport Minister Sheikh Rabiul Alam announced the identification of 27 critical bearing pads and 46 pillars with structural cracks along the Dhaka Metro Rail route from Uttara to Motijheel. The authorities have engaged BUET as a structural consultant and are implementing a mitigation plan, including the installation of steel brackets, to be completed by late 2026.
