Ongoing Riverbank Erosion and Educational Disruption of Chakrathinath Government Primary School in Bogura

The century-old Chakrathinath Government Primary School in Sariakandi, Bogura, was lost to the Jamuna River for the sixth time. Following severe erosion starting around May 16, 2026, approximately 1,500 families have been displaced across Sariakandi and Sonatala upazilas. Students are struggling as they are forced to attend classes in a makeshift tin-shed on a flood control embankment. Additionally, the East Sujaitpur Government Primary School, which also serves as a flood shelter, is under imminent threat of erosion as of July 2026.
