Tidal Flooding in Bhola Due to Heavy Rain and Meghna River Surge

Persistent heavy rainfall and high tides during the new moon have inundated 74 low-lying char areas and 12 unions across Bhola district. Tidal pressure in the Meghna river specifically impacted low-lying areas of Monpura and Daulatkhan upazilas as of July 17, 2026. Over 200 buffaloes were swept away and over 100 families were waterlogged, with thousands of residents remaining stranded in their homes.
