Titas Gas Pipeline Leak in Katiadi Caused by Illegal Lime Factory Repaired

In mid-June 2026, a major high-pressure gas leak occurred in the Titas Gas pipeline under the Arial Khan River in Kazirchar village, Katiadi, Kishoreganj, affecting approximately 9,000 consumers and causing an estimated 20 crore BDT in gas losses. Investigations identified the cause as an illegal connection attempt for a local lime factory. The administration demolished the illegal factory's furnaces on August 3, 2026. After repair work, gas supply was restored by August 5-6, 2026. A case was filed under the Gas Act, 2010, and two landowners were arrested.
