3 illegal lead smelters in Savar demolished by mobile court

A mobile court operated by the Department of Environment demolished three illegal open-air lead smelters and six kilns in the Bhakurta area of Savar on July 2, 2026. The facilities were illegally smelting lead from old batteries, posing severe environmental and public health risks. No individuals were present during the operation.
