Collapse of bridge girders at Shah Arefin-Adwaita Mahaprabhu Maitri Bridge

On the night of May 19, 2026, five girders of the under-construction Shah Arefin-Adwaita Mahaprabhu Maitri Bridge over the Jadukata River in Tahirpur, Sunamganj, collapsed. Construction on the 750-meter-long bridge has been delayed for eight years, and the incident has led to the termination of the original contractor's contract.
