Garment worker couple critically burned in a gas explosion at their home in Savar

A garment worker couple, Md. Kawsar (28) and his wife Ruby Akter (24), suffered severe burn injuries in a gas explosion at their rented home in the Majidpur Dighirpar Masjidbari area of Savar on July 24, 2026. The explosion was triggered by a lit mosquito coil in a room where gas had accumulated due to a leaky main pipeline. Both victims were admitted to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery for critical care.
