Death of Student Hridoy Chandra Tarua and Bahaddarhat Police-Protester Clash

On July 18, 2024, protesters in Bahaddarhat, Chittagong, faced gunfire from law enforcement and political activists, resulting in 4 deaths. Among the victims was Hridoy Chandra Tarua, a third-year history student at Chittagong University, who later died from his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital on July 23, 2024.
