Child dies from measles in Chauddagram, Cumilla; part of district-wide outbreak

Sajid Al Nahiyan, a 7-month-old infant from Singharaish village, Munshirhat Union, Chauddagram, Cumilla, died from measles on May 17, 2026. Despite being taken to seven different hospitals across Cumilla, Feni, and Dhaka, he could not be saved. This death is part of an ongoing measles outbreak in Cumilla district, with 1,665 total suspected cases and 9 deaths reported in the district this year.
