Heavy rainfall and mountain runoff from Meghalaya have caused a surge in river water levels in Sherpur district. The Chellakhali River in Nalitabari upazila is flowing 108 cm above the danger level as of the afternoon of August 5, 2026, with other rivers like the Bhogai, Maharashi, and Someswari also rising rapidly.
