Arson attack by drug-addicted youth leaves 17 families homeless; 11 houses and 6 shops destroyed in Raipur, Lakshmipur

On September 6, 2026, an arson attack at Karim Box Bepari Bari in Sonapur, Raipur, Lakshmipur, destroyed 11 houses (totaling 24 rooms) and 6 shops, leaving 17 families homeless. Estimated financial loss ranges from 1.5 to 5 million BDT. The perpetrator, Md. Sohel Hossain, was beaten by locals and is currently hospitalized under police custody. Raipur and Lakshmipur Fire Service units controlled the blaze in about an hour.
