Flood and Relief Distribution in Kurigram: Crop Damage, Irregularities, and Public Concern

Following heavy rainfall and the rise of Teesta and other river waters, flooding has affected char areas and 160 families in Kurigram's Rajarhat and Ulipur upazilas. The event caused crop destruction, particularly peanuts and vegetables. While local authorities distributed relief including dry food, water purification tablets, and seeds, there were allegations regarding the distribution of expired food and criticism of the agricultural department for prioritizing seed distribution over timely warnings. Residents have called for urgent embankment work to mitigate riverbank erosion.
