Waterlogging mitigation at Shah Amanat International Airport

The Chattogram Port Authority initiated emergency canal excavation and dredging operations on July 10, 2026, to resolve severe waterlogging on the Shah Amanat International Airport runway. The obstruction of Canal No. 12 by nearby construction had hampered drainage, prompting the port to create a diversion and conduct dredging at the mouth of city canals leading to the Karnaphuli River.
