Drowning deaths of 25 people in Jamalpur district over two months

Between May and June 2026, at least 25 people, including 20 children, lost their lives due to drowning across various upazilas in Jamalpur. The fatalities were attributed to a lack of parental supervision, inadequate swimming skills among children, and the prevalence of open water bodies in rural areas during the monsoon season.
