Drowning death of a KUET student at Khan Jahan Ali Hall pond
On May 17, 2026, a 24th-batch architecture student from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) named Sayeem Ferdous drowned while swimming in a pond adjacent to Khan Jahan Ali Hall. The fire service rescue team conducted a search operation and recovered the student after 20–30 minutes, but he was subsequently declared dead at Khulna Medical College Hospital.
