Massive fire at Shafiullah Kata Rohingya camp destroys 500 shelters and structures

A major fire broke out at Camp-16 in Shafiullah Kata, Ukhia, on January 20, 2026. The fire destroyed at least 500 shelters, two mosques, ten learning centers, and one madrasa. Approximately 3,000 Rohingya individuals were rendered homeless. No fatalities were reported, though some injuries occurred during the evacuation.
