Teacher killed after being hit by a bus in Babuganj, Barishal; students protest by blocking the highway

On September 15, 2026, 45-year-old Madrasah teacher Rehana Begum was fatally struck by a bus while crossing the Dhaka-Barishal highway in the Rakudia area of Babuganj, Barishal. She succumbed to her injuries at Barishal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital. Following her death, students protested by blocking the highway to demand road safety and legal action against the driver, causing significant traffic congestion until police intervened.
