Train engine breakdown and derailment in Nangalkot, Cumilla

On June 24, 2026, the Dhaka-Chattagram railway line was disrupted due to an engine failure of the 'Sonar Bangla Express' near Hasanpur station and the derailment of the 'Meghna Express' near Gunabati station in Nangalkot, Cumilla. Rail services were suspended for approximately two and a half hours before partial restoration.
