Cargo vessel 'Parbo' capsized in the Meghna River confluence near Puran Bazar, Chandpur

On July 8, 2026, a cargo vessel named 'Parbo' carrying 5,000-5,200 sacks of rice and paddy sank in the confluence of the Meghna River near Puran Bazar Ghat, Chandpur, due to a severe whirlpool. All five crew members onboard safely escaped by swimming to the shore. The incident resulted in an estimated financial loss of approximately 1 crore BDT.
