Indian citizen Sahida Fakir pushed into Bangladesh, seeks return to India

Sahida Fakir, a 39-year-old Indian citizen from West Bengal, was illegally pushed into Bangladesh by Indian law enforcement on July 24, 2026. Despite holding official Indian identification, she was detained in Mumbai without due process and forced across the border. She is currently sheltered in Satkhira, Bangladesh, while human rights organizations advocate for her repatriation.
