Severe Waterlogging Crisis, Public Protest, and Economic Damage in Bhabadaha Region

Prolonged monsoon rains and extreme river siltation have triggered severe waterlogging in over 200 villages across Jashore and Khulna districts, impacting over 100,000 people. Drainage failure at the Bhabadaha sluice gate has trapped residents, forcing many to live on raised platforms inside homes or relocate to public roads. Residents have held protests demanding a permanent solution via Tidal River Management (TRM). The event has caused 17 crore BDT in economic damage to the fishery sector, with 220 fish farms destroyed.
