18 fishermen stranded in the Bay of Bengal due to trawler engine failure off Sonarchar, Patuakhali

18 fishermen have been stranded in the Bay of Bengal, 80-100 kilometers southeast of the Sonarchar estuary in Rangabali, Patuakhali, since their trawler engine failed in the early hours of September 19, 2026. Rescue efforts by the Coast Guard, Naval Police, and local administration are currently hampered by adverse weather conditions and a lack of adequate rescue equipment.
