Child killed in road accident involving an elephant in Faridpur

On July 28, 2026, a 10-month-old infant, Arisha Jannat, died after a battery-run autorickshaw (easybike) overturned in the Atoroshi area of Sadarpur, Faridpur. The accident was triggered by the presence of an elephant used for illegal toll collection. The mahout was arrested, and the elephant, owned by Dulal Dewan, was initially seized by police before being released under a court order.
