Recurring fatal road accidents on the Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway

The Chittagong-Cox's Bazar highway, specifically the stretch from Karnaphuli upazila to Lohagara upazila, has become a high-risk zone for frequent road accidents due to its narrow design and sharp curves. Since the beginning of 2025, 12 major accidents have occurred, resulting in 29 deaths and 53 injuries, with a high concentration of incidents in the Jangalia area. The government is currently implementing a road widening project, increasing the highway from 21 feet to 34 feet in three phases to improve safety.
