Severe riverbank erosion threatens Babuganj Bazar

Severe riverbank erosion along the Sugandha River has submerged approximately 200 yards of land near Babuganj Bazar in Barishal. The incident, which began on Friday night and continued through Saturday, destroyed a mosque, a public toilet, two homes, and two shops. Several other critical structures, including a new mosque and a BIWTA pontoon, remain under threat, prompting local demands for urgent and long-term protection measures from the Water Development Board.
