Two schoolboys drown while swimming in the Sutiya River, Sreepur, Gazipur
On August 26, 2026, two 11-12 year old school students, Rabbi and Mostakim (also identified as Md. Moktasin Alam and Makhmudul Hasan), drowned while swimming in the Sutiya River at Bapta-Beldia / Bapta Hajibari Ghat, Kawraid union, Sreepur, Gazipur. The children were swimming after a school event when they went missing in deep water; local villagers rescued them and they were taken to the hospital, where police also arrived to assist and investigate.
