Ansar member accidentally shoots cleaner at Osmani Airport; assailant removed

On September 26, 2026, at approximately 10:00 AM, an Ansar member named Mozammel Haque accidentally shot a cleaner, Rubel Ahmed (also known as Rubel Miah), at Osmani International Airport while attempting to scare away birds from the runway. The incident occurred because the Ansar member fired a weapon (shotgun/airgun) from inside a vehicle, violating safety protocols. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the waist and was treated at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital; the Ansar member has since been removed from duty.
