Death of a schoolgirl following appendicitis surgery in Chuadanga

Sohagi Khatun (14) died at the National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital in Dhaka on September 6, 2026, following complications from an appendicitis surgery performed by Dr. Rafiqul Islam at Monoara Sono Center & Nursing Home in Jibonnagar, Chuadanga. The family alleged medical negligence and malpractice. The District Health Department has formed a three-member committee to investigate the incident.
