On the night of February 25, 2026, a massive gas explosion occurred at the unauthorized N Alam Filling Station (also known as Koksbazar LPG Station) on Kolatoli Bypass Road, Cox's Bazar, likely due to a gas leak during unloading. The incident resulted in 3 deaths and 16 burn injuries, destroyed or damaged at least 30-50 vehicles, four to fifty houses, and a nearby garage. The facility reportedly lacked mandatory fire safety and environmental clearances. The fire was controlled after a seven-hour multi-agency operation involving the fire service, army, police, navy, and air force. Legal action has been initiated against the owner, Nurul Alam, and an investigation committee has been formed.
