Bridge collapses in Fenchuganj shortly after concrete casting

A 60-foot long bridge under construction in Surikandi village, Fenchuganj, Sylhet, collapsed shortly after its concrete slab was cast on May 7, 2026. Locals allege the collapse was due to the use of substandard construction materials, and the contractor had proceeded without notifying the local project implementation office.
