Measles Outbreak in Bangladesh: Nationwide Vaccination Campaign and Rising Death Toll

A nationwide measles and suspected measles outbreak has resulted in 149 deaths since March 15, 2026. Following the outbreak, a national vaccination drive began on April 5, 2026, which is expanding to major cities like Dhaka, Mymensingh, and Barisal by April 12. The government is addressing the crisis by increasing medical staffing and preparing isolation capacity across the country.
