College student dies after surgery in Faridpur, leading to closure of Al-Jara and other medical facilities

A 17-year-old college student, Ayesha Afrin, died on July 16, 2026, due to surgical complications at Al-Jara Private Hospital in Faridpur. Her family alleged medical negligence. In response, authorities investigated the matter and on August 4, 2026, closed Al-Jara Specialized Hospital along with four other private diagnostic centers due to severe administrative mismanagement and lack of valid operating licenses.
