Heavy rain caused a tree to fall on a 33kV power line at the Morichya BGB checkpost area in Ukhiya on August 16, 2026. The incident damaged four power poles and cut off electricity to approximately 300,000 customers in Ukhiya and Teknaf for eight hours, resulting in significant public distress.
