Dhalai and Manu River flash flood and embankment breach in Kamalganj, Moulvibazar

On July 8, 2026, a 100-meter section of the Dhalai river embankment in the Makabil area of Kamalganj, Moulvibazar, breached due to heavy rain and upstream runoff, causing a flash flood. By July 10, the flooding had affected at least 15-25 villages across Islampur, Adampur, and Madhabpur unions, stranding approximately 10,000 people. Road communication has been disrupted and agricultural fields are submerged, with Manu and Dhalai rivers reported as exceeding danger marks.
